Keane plays contrary to media reports

Captain Roy Keane's appearance last night during Manchester United's 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen still could not get that final spark, to give the home team the advantage for next Tuesdays away leg.

Keane was ruled out of the home leg, however it was to everyone’s surprise, most poignantly MickMc Carthy's, to see him on the bench. Keane came on to play on 81 minutes and showed no tightness or visible soreness in the hamstring. Sir Alex Ferguson commented after the game: “Roy will be fit and available for the away leg next Tuesday.

So we will just have to wait and see, if there are no setbacks all will be fine”. Roy has been using oxidising chambers for his injury for days now, and it seems to have paid off. This season is coming to a close and with Manchester United coming towards two final league games and the possibility of two more champions league games, time will only tell with Keane's Hamstring.

Elsewhere Clinton Morrison was denied a move to Birmingham City as a £5mil deal fell through for Blues boss Steve Bruce.

And although the final relegation place has not been filled by a third Premiership team, Ipswich went the right way up the table last night. The Tractor Boys beat the Boro by a goal to nil. However while this helps Irelands Mattie Holland in the survival of top-flight football, it does no good for our Boys at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland. Sunderland still need a win from their final two games to guarantee survival, Charlton away and Derby at home. The situation looks much better for Sunderland on paper that it does for Ipswich, as Ipswich face Manchester United and Liverpool for their final two games. The last thing the Republic of Ireland need is the dreaded thought of any Irish player going to division 1, especially Niall Quinn, Jason McAteer, Kevin Kilbane and Tommy Butler.

With the Tractor Boys on 36 points and the Black Cats on 38, theres just two points between them. And Ipswich have got to be odds on favourites to go down, unfortunately for Mattie Holland. However shopping lists of player requirements will be building up at this stage of the season in Managers minds, and Holland will surely be snapped up, sooner rather than later, providing the Tractor boys DO go down.
